Compiere includes a built-in workflow system that allow for creating steps with one or more user and the outcome of such workflow can be either starting a process, running a report, or creating a new workflow. You can also create alerts when specific business conditions happen, or you can create schedules that will result in creating reports or sending emails.

Compiere is built on Java technology which makes it a cross-platform solution and can be deployed on any system configuration and supports a variety of databases like Postgres DB and Oracle. Compiere is a cloud ready application which means that you can deploy the ERP in a cloud infrastructure, like Amazon Cloud, and hence eliminating the need to have and to maintain hardware. Compiere is built with SOA in mind which allows it to be integrated with many applications using web services. Compiere two presentation architectures the web-based architecture and the server-client architectures; the web-based architecture allows the users to access Compiere using any web-browser which makes it possible to use Compiere from any computer. For the server-client architecture Compiere includes a desktop application with its suite which allows accessing the ERP functions from that client.
